What we're into this summer on the Cape
The season's actually-useful trends — pieces that work for the office and a Friday on the water.
Summer on Cape Cod has a way of simplifying the closet. The heat does half the editing for you. Here’s what’s earning its place this season — the stuff that genuinely carries from a desk to the deck, not just whatever’s loudest on the feed.
The pieces
A great pair of tailored linen trousers. The hardest-working thing you can own right now. Crisp enough for a meeting, breezy enough for a clam shack. Roll the hem, swap the flats for sandals, and you’ve changed outfits without changing.
The relaxed knit, in a warm neutral. Cooler nights by the water are real, even in July. A loose oatmeal or sand knit over everything is the easiest upgrade there is — and it photographs beautifully against all that grey-blue light.
One white shirt you actually like. Not a project, not a uniform — a soft, slightly oversized white shirt that goes under a blazer at nine and over a swimsuit at four. If you only chase one thing this summer, chase the right white shirt.
What we’re skipping
The micro-trends that look incredible for a week and wrong by August. If it won’t still feel right next summer, it’s a rental, not a buy.
And at home
We’re leaning into the same idea indoors: lighter linens, a few open windows, and clearing surfaces so the house breathes the way the season does. More on that soon.
